The FinePix A330 offers faster operation times and improved power consumption
with user-friendly menu navigation. The cameras allow first-time digital

experience simple and fun. The FinePix A330 offers 3.2 million effective
pixels and a 3x optical zoom to capture bright, vivid images combined
with a 3x optical zoom, for printed images that look as real as life.
This camera offers streamlined menu navigation, a quick playback mode
and a slide-powered boot-up in sleek metallic bodies. The camera offers
four scene position modes usually found in more advanced Fujifilm cameras,
including portrait, night, sports and landscape settings. The macro setting
on this camera allows users to capture images of items only 4 inches away
from the lens. In addition, AVI movies can be captured at a rate of 10 frames
per second. The FinePix A330 is compatible with the optional Fujifilm Picture
Cradle, which allows easy optional NH-10 battery recharging, as well as streamlined
image downloads and video playback when connected to a television set. The FinePix
A330 offers a 3.3 second start-up time, and an increased efficiency in
frame-to-frame shooting. This model also offers improved power consumption,
taking an average of 250 images on a new set of AA alkaline batteries, with the
flash on half of the time and LCD off.
The Olympus D-580 is a great entry-level camera, with better than entry-level features
and performance.
It can be a frustrating search for consumers looking for decent quality in a digicam at a
rock-bottom price. Many entry-level cameras are poorly built, have terrible image quality,
or will only deliver acceptable results under perfect daylight conditions. Against that background,
the Olympus D-540 Zoom really stands out, with great color, great flexibility, a 3.3 megapixel CCD
coupled with a nice 3x optical zoom lens, and great ease of use. That said, this is an
entry-level camera, so you'll have to accept a few tradeoffs, mainly in the form of some softness
in the corners of its images, and in its somewhat leisurely shutter response and shot to shot
cycle times. For the price though, it's a tough act to beat, just the ticket for new users to
get their feet wet with digital, for families looking for a little camera that can be shared by
the kids as well as the grownups, or even for an "enthusiast" photographer looking for an
inexpensive second (or third?) camera.
