The setting of Timber Bowl Valley is in the North Cascades of
the state of Washington in an area surrounding the town of .
Darrington. White Horse Mountain, with its many moods,
looks down upon this valley which was surrounded by
timber-covered hills.
Mrs. Younkin went there with her parents when she graduated from
Auburn High School in June 1923. It was a near-wilderness area at
that time. She has woven the simple, daily living of her life with
that of her neighbors into a warm and friendly story.
